Meet the Face Behind the Food

“We all eat & it would be a sad waste of opportunity to eat badly.” – Anna Thomas

 — Welcome to Eat Drink Savor Repeat! —

Hi! I’m Annie, an adult nurse practitioner. I love the idea of eating to savor and not eating to eat. This idea was embedded in me after a summer in Munich, Germany, where I had my first true solo experience navigating the kitchen; it was both terrifying and exhilarating. I enjoyed the German supermarket mentality — most items were fresh, little was processed and stores were more the size of markets rather than warehouses.

After doing a graduate program at Cornell, Ithaca’s farm-to-table, locally grown foodie culture and farmer’s market fully drew me in; I was hooked on all things fresh, whole, healthy and clean eating. Now, as a nurse practitioner in Boston, I think the right food opens so many doors for good health and overall well-being. I wholeheartedly believe that eating more fruits and veggies, whole grains and lean protein leaves you feeling satisfied from the inside and out.

Food should be fun and something to thoroughly enjoy — even savor! It shouldn’t be a chore or sacrifice taste and flavor to count calories. I try to incorporate as many whole foods as possible with little added sugar and processed ingredients. Through my blog, I’ll share recipes I’ve found, modified or created myself, trying vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free meals (because why not try new things?) and healthier dishes. A secondary objective is to maintain an emphasis on food. I want my blog to be a platform for easy-to-find recipes at the hub of EDSR without sifting through tons of paragraphs and photos asking yourself, “Where the heck is the recipe?”

When not in the kitchen, at the hospital, or in the classroom, you can find me knitting, exercising with a run along the Charles or at a spin class, enjoying a good book, or out with friends searching for the next best brunch spot (because everyone needs a day off from doing dishes). Follow me on Instagram to join this savor philosophy with and/or to contact me with any questions, comments or ideas — I’d love to hear from you!

So stop, look around, and get ready to eat, drink, savor & repeat!

xo Annie
