The Perfect Herby Tahini Sauce for Dipping

img_8809

I saw a recipe for fish, rice, and this herby sauce and I was intrigued. I love fresh herbs. They had a bright vibrancy and flavor to any dish. Also, just look at that color! I tend to gravitate toward basil and cilantro, sometimes mint, but usually not parsley, so I wanted to give this a try. Like a pesto, this Parsley Tahini Sauce is perfect for dipping or thin to make a sauce. The tahini is nutty and bitter balanced with the acidity of lime juice and the greenness from the parsley. We grilled shrimp and zucchini and the charred flavor from the grill perfectly balances with this vibrant, nutty, and sour sauce.

Glowing Skin Recovery Mango Tahini Smoothie

I’ve been on a spin kick lately, going 2-3 times per week since after Christmas. I’ve enjoyed drinking a smoothie after this intense exercise since it’s hydrating and nourishing, especially when I’m not hungry or in the mood for “whole” food for a bit after that type of rigorous exercise. This Mango Tahini Smoothie has good-for-your-skin vitamins from mango, healthy fats from tahini, and antioxidants and vitamin C from the orange. I swapped cauliflower in for banana, since mangos are already sweet enough. Brightened with cardamom and cinnamon, this smoothie is a refreshingly cozy way to start your day and recover from some welcomed sweaty exercise. Tantalizing Tahini Brownies

IMG_8704

I’ve been baking lately. Ted is enjoying batches of brownies, as I try to perfect the recipe and I think I’ve found it. Tahini Brownies. A simple take on brownies using tahini and applesauce as a substitute for butter, while still leaving the brownies fluffy without being dry. Adding seasame seeds to the top gets them nice and toasted as the brownies bake and bring out even more sesame flavor complement that dark chocolate. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, drizzle the top with extra tahini and sprinkle with extra chocolate chips.

Copycat Sweetgreen Strikes Again with Tahini Chicken Quinoa Bowls

IMG_9033.JPG

I love me some Sweetgreen. What I love even more is when I find how to hack Sweetgreen’s dressings and create something just as good at home. I give you Creamy Sesame Tahini Quinoa Bowls. They’re sweet and spicy, while also filling and oh-so-hearty thanks to the quinoa and chicken. The Creamy Sesame Dressing is a blend of tahini and sesame oil adding a savory, umami kick to tie things together.

Stay Warm & Cozy with These Harvest Bowls

IMG_8545.JPG

I made a similar roasted veggie bowl last year with sweet potato instead of squash, but since then, I’ve somehow perfected this. Maybe it’s because the sauce is juuuuust right; I mixed a little hummus and tahini, apple cider vinegar and dijon mustard. Besides making the dressing and having the quinoa cooked ahead of time, this bowl is really a one pan meal then. You can roast all the veggies at once, adding kale at the end and then keeping the chickpeas separate is they don’t get soggy. These Roasted Vegetable Harvest Bowls keep you full without feeling overly stuffed and kind of even make you feel like you just indulged at Sweetgreen without leaving your home.

Copycat Sweetgreen Falafel Salad

IMG_6392

Ever since moving to Boston, I really like Sweetgreen since you get a salad or bowl that’s healthy and doesn’t truly break the bank. But, I’d like Sweetgreen even more if I didn’t have to leave my apartment to grab a meal. Sometimes, you just want something a bit more instantaneous. Here’s my copycat version of the Hummus Tahina Salad — Falafel Salad with Cucumber Tahini Dressing. I bought some falafels from the freezer section, tossed in ingredients for a salad and whipped up a dressing. I liked SG’s idea of adding breadcrumbs to their salad, so I added some GF breadcrumbs to act like croutons. I also like making regular tahini dressing — raw tahini, lemon, agave and water — and modified this to be the cucumber tahini version. Almost just as easy, but this one requires a bit of blending to make the cucumbers and garlic silky smooth.

Easiest Savory Sesame Salmon Salad

img_5301

My dad flew out of Boston this weekend, so naturally my mom sent down some salmon and chickpea fesenjan from Minimalist Baker (delish, btw) down from Maine. I had some leftover bok choy and scallions in my fridge, which are the makings of a perfect salad.  Sesame salmon and tahini go oh, so well together. I whipped up an easy dressing and had the best lunch: Sesame Salmon Salad with a Tahini Dressing.
