Although it’s fall, Halloween’s 70° weather had me craving this Pumpkin Pie Smoothie last week. Rich in antioxidants and vitamin A, pumpkin is not an obvious choice for smoothies. However, it’s thick and creamy nature allows it to easily acquire flavors like the spices of pumpkin pie. It’s just decadent enough to be breakfast, dessert, or a snack, but healthy thanks to bananas’ and dates’ natural sweetness. Healthy fats in the almond butter and plant-based protein round this smoothie out as a nutritious option.

Latte Oats for Breakfast
I haven’t posted an oatmeal recipe in a while. I’ve recently gone back to steel-cut oats to switch it up from my traditional and usually stock old-fashioned oats. I also have an important PSA: if you don’t have a milk frother, go out and buy one. It’s life-changing. That’s a gross hyperbole, but I have noticed I’m quite excited every morning before my cup of coffee. I’ve been using one by Nepresso that does both cold and hot foam. Full disclosure that I received this as a present, but it’s wonderful nonetheless. Adding frothed vanilla almond milk interestingly tastes like marshmallows. While not a “latte” in a traditional sense, Cinnamon Oatmeal Latte are a delicious alternative to your sweet or savory oats, and another way to invigorate your morning.
Sinfully Good Homemade Cinnamon Rolls
I love cinnamon rolls, especially ones that are warm and gooey and right out of the oven. Thanks to Minimalist Baker, here’s an idea for ones that are homemade; they’re lightened up with less butter, use almond milk instead of heavy cream or whole milk and have a little whole wheat flour to round them out. I made these from scratch on Christmas morning and my parents gave them a stamp of approval. With a little patience to let the dough rise, these homemade Cinnamon Rolls are the perfect addition to your brunch arsenal.
Lusciously Refreshing Layered Smoothie
Yesterday, Boston was 90ºF and muggy. Not in the mood for a hot, complicated breakfast? Neither was I. This take a little planning to make the chia pudding ahead of time, but all in all, it’s a quick, easy and definitely refreshing meal. Pineapple, raspberries and watermelon are all in season, so perfect timing to buying bulk and freeze. Packed with vitamin C, this thirst-quenching Layered Chia Smoothie refuels, cools and hits the spot.
Let’s Get Tropical: Plant-Based Protein Smoothie
I don’t normally like nor use protein powder. I think it tastes chalky and artificial. Aloha sent their new plant-based vanilla protein powder to try. Let’s break it down: 18 g of plant-based protein per packet, 175 calories, low in saturated fat, still TWO servings of fruit and veggies and packed with taste — none of that chalky consistency. Last weekend, the temperature easily pushed high 80s, low 90s in Boston. Throw in a run in that muggy weather and the idea of this smoothie is what got me through my run. Also, how can you not try this when it looks like you’re sipping on a tropical ice cream? Blend frozen bananas, frozen mango, almond milk and Aloha’s vanilla protein, and this Tropical Protein Smoothie was hands down one of the best smoothies I’ve ever had.

Mad for Mango
I’m still on my mango kick after my trip to Florida a few weeks ago. Why not incorporate some mango into overnight oats? Cue the ground ginger and you have an unusually good combination of flavors. The sweetness from juicy, ripe mangos means no added sweetener is needed. (Doesn’t mean you can’t add more, but you probably don’t need to.) Cue the ground ginger with fresh berries and you have an unusually good combination of flavors with this Mango Ginger Overnight Oats.
A Tropical Paradise Smoothie
I just came back from a long weekend on Sanibel Island in Florida. Known for its abundance of shells, Sanibel was a much needed breath of warm weather after the snowiest (and one of the coldest) winters in Boston. I met my parents and family friends there, and my mom had bought honey mangos for the stay. They’re deliciously sweet and rich in vitamin C. The mangos was just begging to be transformed in a smoothie. Given most days were muggy and in the high 80’s, low 90’s, it was only fitting to make a Mango Banana “Green” Smoothie. Bananas, strawberries, spinach and a dose of Aloha‘s 14 superfoods, this smoothies was better than expected. One sip and hopefully you’ll channel some beach vibes like the pictures below of Sanibel and be transported to your own tropical paradise.
Positively the Berry Best Poached Berries
After making the German Chocolate “Cake” Overnight Chia Oats, preparing oats of some sort the night before has become a staple for breakfast. It’s really easy to make, great for a work week, and has maximal taste for minimal effort. I’ve been waiting for the right time to make Poached Berries again — rich in color, full of flavor and just simply fruit and sweetener if needed. I added some of Aloha‘s The Daily Good Berry Blend; it has two servings of fruits and vegetables in one packet from 14 superfoods (wow!). Clearly their Berry Blend was the match to my poached berries. Throw in the overnight oats and we have ourselves a winner: Berry Good Overnight Oats.

Get-Your-Greens Smoothie
Ok, so I’m on a chocolate kick lately, but can you blame me? I’ve spent the seeking on the bus or walking to work dreaming about all the things I’m going to make involving chocolate — I see a new version of the banana oat cookies in the future . . . I was also a day too late for National Spinach Day (who knew such a thing existed?), but nevertheless, this was worth the wait. The baby spinach adds zero flavor and one hundred percent nutrients to this not-so-green machine. Toss in bananas, almond milk, some almond butter and now you’ve got yourself a healthy Chocolate Almond Butter Smoothie.
Chocolate Cake in a Bowl
This was super easy. Dump, chill, stir and breakfast is served. It’s that easy — seriously. Aloha‘s Daily Good Chocolate isn’t too chocolatey or dark like cacao powder; it’s subtle in flavor, but just enough to get its point across. Add in some almond milk and coconut flakes and German Chocolate “Cake” Overnight Chia Oats was born. Hope you relish all the time that you now have on your hands in the morning to just sit back, sip your coffee and/or tea and enjoy your wonderful already-prepared-breakfast just as much as I did.
